Why Use Welsh Hardwoods
| Welsh Hardwoods |
|---|
|
Many question the use of hardwoods, and rightly so in the light of what’s happening in the world’s forests today. Yet at the same time Wales has over 100 thousand acres of native broadleaved woodland which is slowly dying on it’s feet for want of thinning and protection. Carefully managed broadleaved woodland can produce a crop of timber indefinitely. Our forefathers understood this, but the 19th century brought cheap imports from tropical rainforests which swamped local markets and led directly to the dereliction of our own woodlands. Coed Cymru has brought together a range of modern and traditional hardwood products from manufacturers all over Wales who are committed to the future of these woodlands. These products are designed to make the best use of thinnings with the minimum Items sold under the Coed Cymru label use timbers from Welsh woodlands. Coed Cymru is managing these woodlands for the future of wildlife, landscape and the rural economy of Wales. Click to see Hardwood House Signs & Memorials |
