158. Did I tell you that I loved you?

forever is gone.

hope that this will not be so.
Please say that there's an end
to this, that the pain will go.
Tell me that the memories,
will soon make me smile.
That there wont be an hour,
when I don't think of you, the
whole while.
Your memory wont be far
from me, the hurt will fade to an ache.
Until then I hold together the pieces,
of a heart about to break.
173. Will someone be there to take your
hand, and comfort all your fears.
Will someone hold you very tight,
as I have throughout the years.
I tried to do my best for you,
to keep you close with me.
You were fading from this world,
so that was not to be.
We had the best of lives together,
with a past and memories,
I'll cherish forever.
174. So young to have left,
so much still to do.
Did God have plans,
already made for you?
We can still hear the laughter,
imagine you there.
Standing at the mirror,
combing your hair.
Your first day at school,
seems not long ago.
The summers of swimming,
the playing in the snow.
A short lifetime for memories,
of which we have to make do.

|
An epitaph Strictly, an inscription on a tomb; by extension, a statement, usually in verse, commemorating the dead. The earliest such inscriptions are those found on Egyptian sarcophagi. In England epitaphs did not begin to assume a literary character until the time of Elizabeth I. Ben Jonson, John Milton, Alexander Pope, and Samuel Johnson were considered masters of the art. The epitaph on Ben Jonson's own tomb in Westminster Abbey was splendidly brief: "O rare Ben Jonson!" Epitaphs are often humorous. It is not known whether the epitaph printed below is amusing by design or by accident: Here lie I Martin Elginbrodde: Have mercy on my soul, Lord God, As I wad do, were I Lord God, And ye were Martin Elginbrodde
